Popolamama Indonesia, a new brand in the food industry. Originally from Japan, it mixes Japanese custom art & perfection and the art of Italian pasta making. The pasta here uses 100% Durum wheat ground onto Semolina flour. The branch in Taman Anggrek uses classic Italian decoration outside, minimalistic Italian inside. The lighting here was quite dim, a gentle note to be extra careful while taking photos/pictures :).
Now, let's move on to the dishes. I got complete set of appetizer, main course and dessert. I'm gonna reveal them one by one, here we go!
Bolognese Potato Gratin (IDR 33k)
I had Bolognese Potato Gratin for the appetizer here. Looked like beef lasagna at first, but it was potato inside actually. They used potato slices here and freshly baked with minced beef, bolognese sauce and some melted mozzarella on top. The taste was quite fair, love the texture of the potato slices.
Three Japanese Mushroom (IDR 65k)
Popolamama serves Napoli style pizza and this is one of them. Thin layer in the center and soft crust are the main characters of Napoli style pizza. I picked Three Japanese Mushroom pizza, with shitake, bringi and bunashimeji mushroom, grana padano and white sauce. It was really a good cross between Italian and Japanese. The mushrooms were great and the sauce was pretty savory. Not only that, as I've mentioned before, the crust was soft and so good.
'Yokubari' Aglio Olio (IDR 72k)
Pasta in Popolamama requires you to immediately stir and mix the pasta to prevent the seasoning lose its taste. A very fresh pasta indeed. 'Yokubari' Aglio Olio consists of chicken sausage, smoked beef, Japanese mushroom & nasu (eggplant) and broccoli. I love it very very much! This is a must try! Very pleased with the chicken sausages there and what I really like from this 'Yokubari' Aglio Olio is the seasoning. It was really tasty until the pasta itself tasted so good. Perfect combination between the salty flavor from the seasoning & the meats and the sweet flavor from the mushroom. Added with nasu and broccoli made it a healthy dish :p.
Hazelnut Dark Chocolate (IDR 45k)
For the dessert, I had this Hazelnut Dark Chocolate. This three layer cake has a glazy layer atop and thin chocolate crust at the base. A bit dense in texture and I love the taste actually. It was a good balance between sweet and bitter from the dark chocolate. Just a good closing after the meal, but the price was..... :(
As a huge fan of Italian and Japanese food, this was such a heaven :)).
