It's been a while since I last visited Senopati and there have been many new additions of restaurant there, including this one that I tried recently. 3 Wise Monkeys, from the name you would expect this to be a Japanese restaurant.
Yes, you are right! "Three Wise Monkeys", this old saying is originated from Japan and embodies to "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil". It clearly tells you to do good and no harmful things. Okay, enough with the saying! When this restaurant is named with the saying, we all expect something good from it as well, right? :D
Like I said before, 3 Wise Monkeys is located in the 'it' area, Senopati. If you know Crematology Coffee Roasters, 3 Wise Monkeys is just before Crematology but on the other side.
It was a gloomy Sunday afternoon and it would be perfect to get some relaxing meals. The place here was also relaxing and very homey. A modern, simple design with some Japanese touch. It was a tick in the box for me. They even have a U-shaped table which is very useful and nice.
3 Wise Monkeys
Now for the main part, the meals! 3 Wise Monkeys has various Japanese cuisines from grilled, sushi roll, nigiri and others.
Shoyu Butter Beef (IDR 79k and/or + IDR 30k)
This is one of the recommended menu that you have to try! For this meal, you can pick a la carte or meal set. The meal set includes additional rice, miso soup and chawan mushi. I like the presentation of this Shoyu Butter Beef, it dissects the beef, shoyu and the salad so they can stand out by themselves.
YUMMY!
The beef was grilled with yummy butter and it was medium well so the beef would stay tender a bit longer. The texture of the beef was pretty tender and juicy. The taste was actually quite standard for grilled meat but thanks to the shoyu this meal became amazing. Shoyu, Japanese soy sauce, gives a sweet and tasty taste to the butter beef.
Chawan mushi is steamed eggs with mushroom, chicken and prawn fillings. The steamed eggs was soft, fresh and rather plain flavor which was nice. All the fillings were pretty enjoyable with the egg.
Shoyu Butter Chicken (IDR 45k and/or + IDR 30k)
Now this is almost the same with the previous one expect the Chicken. It also can be made to meal set with additional rice, miso soup and chawan mushi. The grilled chicken looked really tempting with that golden brown color. The chicken meat was chunky and succulent and the butter oozed nicely from the meat. Again, the shoyu made the meal so delightful!
3 Wise Monkeys Special Spicy Salmon Roll (IDR 69k)
Visiting a Japanese restaurant seems not prefect if we don't have a bite of sushi :p. I was in the mood for sushi roll so I tried this special roll from 3 Wise Monkeys. Again, I like the presentation. The roll is filled with yummy spicy salmon and covered with crispy skin then topped with crunchy tobiko.
The spicy salmon was really delicious and fresh, one of the best that I've tried so far, really! The crispy skin and tobiko made it just perfect and so colorful. I keep drooling to this! :p
Lychee Mocktail (IDR 50k)
Now for the drinks, I got two fresh mocktails here. The first one is Lychee Mocktail. Lychee monin, fresh lemon juice and pomegranate shake with soda water. I love the color of the mocktail here, so bright and fresh. It was very rejuvenating and sparkling. Not just that, this mocktail here also had a skewer of lychee fruits.
The second mocktail is Ganbatte! This is a blended banana, orange juice, fresh lime juice and monin vanilla. I personally found this was better than the Lychee Mocktail. The combination resulted a good sweet taste and fluffy texture. The banana taste was still recognized and not overcome by the others.
It's very refreshing as well!
Ganbatte! :D
In the end, I think 3 Wise Monkeys is quite welcomed here in Jakarta, especially in Senopati. They have decent foods and a very cozy place. I can say it's worth to try 3 Wise Monkeys with their premium quality Japanese cuisines.
Note : 3 Wise Monkeys is across Crematology
