Hong Tang Central Park

Hello there! Finally I'm back to write a post again after one month out. Wondering what will I review in this post? You must be know it already, Hong Tang. This is a well-known dessert shop in Jakarta. After facing the craziness and hectic life in Jakarta, this would be a nice (and sweet) relief to have. This Taiwanese dessert brand opened a new branch in Central Park earlier this year. This outlet has become a public favorite since its opening and queueing line is likely to be seen. The place isn't too big with some tables on the foyer and with typical red Asian decoration posted in.
I did go into the waiting list but for just a moment, the place wasn't that full either, considering it was Saturday night.
With nothing to wait, I started to order some sweet desserts.

Hong Tang Grass Jelly 28

Grass Jelly Series #28 (IDR 42k)
Many say that this is the favorite one, we'll see it in a minute. With the hefty price, there's something to expect from this dessert. Served in a big bowl this dessert will surely satisfy you. Q ball+ pearl+ice cream and a big chunk of grass jelly in the bowl. Let's start with the Q ball. The Q ball made up from sweet potato & taro and had a gooey texture, plain but sweet in taste just in the right amount.

The grass jelly - that came in a generous size -  was also good, took it with the milky soup and the shaved ice. The pearl was fine enough to complete the dessert, gooey textured.
A full scoop of matcha ice cream was totally irresistible, loved it when it melted to the milky soup. The taste was a bit average but pretty enjoyable thoroughly.

Matcha Milk Tea (IDR 22k)
Hong Tang's milk tea is a decent one, I think. Again I ordered matcha-flavored dessert. Loved the good and sweet milk tea taste and the matcha taste was good enough. You can add another scoop of ice cream on top. Nothing much to be explained here, overall it's a good refreshing drink.

Honestly there was a bit too much matcha consumption HAHA! Tips : mix the flavor next time unless you are a matcha addict.....

Final words, there are plenty of choices for dessert now in Jakarta, but if you're searching for Taiwanese dessert, I will suggest you Hong Tang for it's original oriental taste :).
