I Love Taimei Central Park

Hi readers!

Back again with The Foodglasses here, in this post I'll share my latest food journey. Hope you enjoy this!
So, in one fine afternoon (the sun was shining bright as always but a light rain poured down at the same time, gee... Well, I'd still consider it as 'fine' anyway.), I was in the mood to have a snack and refreshing time. I went to Central Park Mall and settled down in Tribeca, instead of the mall itself (had enough with the mall!).
It was I Love Taimei that caught my eyes and finally I wanted to try snacking there.

The shop here wasn't that big, quite small actually with only 3 tables and counters inside, more tables outside at the foyer. I Love Taimei is more like a buy-and-go shop than a dine-in shop. I took a table at the foyer, it was more spacious for me. And here are what I had :

Selina - BBQ Crispy Chicken (IDR 32k)
This is the main selling from I Love Taimei. Crispy Chicken with BBQ seasoning. The original Crispy Chicken was coated with sweet flour, so the chicken was dominantly sweet. The chicken itself had a smooth texture and the crispiness was okay. The BBQ seasoning was the main point here, it added more sweetness to the chicken and it was tasty! Completed with sesame seed.

Ella - Extra Crispy Chicken (IDR 32k)
Another main selling from I Love Taimei. It was like the original crispy chicken with extra crispiness. The texture of the chicken was the same like the Selina one. This Extra Crsipy Chicken was a bit off with its crispiness level, the crispy texture was a bit hard. I added spicy seasoning to it to balance the sweet taste. The dishes in I Love Taimei mostly have a sweet taste, it's better to find something that not sweet or you're gonna feel sick :/

Seaweed Fries
I Love Taimei's fries was a decent one. You can choose the seasoning you want for the fries, I opted for seaweed seasoning. It just turned out to be a good combination, I loved the seaweed aroma and the taste was superb! The fries were fresh and crisp, I couldn't resist the temptation of a good fries!

Sweet Potato
This was my favorite pick, sweet potato. Freshly served with original seasoning, this sweet potato was also irresistible. The sweet potato was REAL sweet and the crunchy skin made it more enjoyable in every bite. I'd like to have it more for sure.

Super Caramel Milk (IDR 22k)
Another recommended menu. The caramel tasted so good and the sweetness was fine for me. Creamy taste from the milk was simply delightful. The simplest yet superb that you can get here. The sugar in this milk was medium (you can request it, also the ice) and there's an upsize option just by adding IDR 3k. Really refreshing in these hot days lately.

Green Tea La Creme (IDR 20k)
Blended cream with green tea flavor. I must say the cream was a bit too much but the green tea flavor was not that bad. You need a bigger straw to drink this haha.

You can order a full set in I Love Taimei for IDR 58k, in a full set you'll get one portion of crispy chicken, one sidedish and one milk tea, all of your own choice.

It wasn't a waste to explore the other side of Central Park when you find this kind of shop :p
Have a great snack while enjoying a beautiful sight is simply lovely!

Bebek Goreng H. Slamet Kebon Jeruk

It started when someone was craving for duck, specifically fried duck SOOO bad :p. So after church I decided to have a dinner with a fried duck cuisine. After taking a ride from Bundaran HI, finally I arrived at Bebek Goreng H. Slamet Kebon Jeruk branch. Yes, it's the famous fried duck restaurant from Kartosuro. I was excited since I was in the mood to explore and enjoy street foods. Fancy foods often make you adore them, but don't forget that street foods are also adorable and even some of them are exceptional! We should be GRATEFUL to live in Indonesia, as far as I know, Indonesia is one of the most gifted (if it's not THE MOST!) nation in terms of culinary. The number of variation is absolutely breathtaking!

This fried duck or bebek goreng is also adorable. I love its authentic taste. The cuisines that I picked were Fried Duck Breast+Rice+Tempe Mendoan (IDR 27k) and Crumbled Duck Breast+Rice+Tempe Mendoan (IDK 27k) meal sets. Bebek Goreng H. Slamet also serves one whole duck menu WHOA!

The fried duck breast was amazing! The meat was so tender (slightly different texture with chicken) and very tasty (almost the same taste with chicken). Because it was deep fried, the fried duck breast was a bit greasy. The tempe mendoan was also fantastic and authentic, it won't be complete if you don't try the tempe mendoan. The taste was so original, just love the simpleness. Also decorated with papaya leaves and sliced cucumbers.

The next meal was crumbled duck breast. The crumbled ("remuk") one is almost the same with the fried one, the differences are the crumbled duck was drier and crunchier. The meat and taste were as good as the fried one. Both are very lovable!

Is there something missing? Yes, of course! Don't forget the trademark Sambel Korek! It's like a ritual thing that you shouldn't miss the sambal LOL! It was pretty spicy (phew!) but made a perfect combination with the meals. You can add an extra for only IDR 1k.

Bebek Goreng H. Slamet is popular and well known in Jakarta. And I guess it has stolen my heart <3

The Bailey's and Chloe

Hi readers!

It's time for another post from The Foodglasses as I'm gonna review a quite new resto that I visited recently in West Jakarta. It's The Bailey's and Chloe. This cafe resto is located in Tanjung Duren, behind Citraland Mall. It's near Pisang Ijo to be precise. You can find it easily by searching for a two-cute-bear sign beside the street. At the first look, the resto isn't too big from the outside since it's in a shop ("ruko") but it has two levels to dine. From the inside, I can feel the ambiance of this resto, simple, cute, old-fashioned and calm just like a teddy bear house :3. Not that spacious but pretty relaxing.

How about the food? Like the other restos, The Bailey's and Chloe serves salad, pasta, western main course and appetizer. The price wasn't that pricey. With nothing above IDR 30k, I could be free to choose the menu (sometimes I'm still restricted to the price :p) and added an extra dish.
Here are what I picked for dinner that night :

Cheezy Bolster (IDR 18k)
This was what I picked for the appetizer dish and I'm not gonna regret it. Cheezy Bolster is squid rolls with melted cheese filling then deep fried and served with chili sauce. The squid texture was tender and smooth. The melted cheese inside was my highlight, created a good mix of taste with the squid roll and the skin was crunchy enough. Pretty much like it. The sauce was chili sauce, I personally think that giving sauce options would be better, like mayo sauce or else. I enjoyed every bite of this Cheezy Bolster.

King Caesar (IDR 23k)
Grilled chicken, lettuce, crouton, tomato, cheese with caesar dressing.
Served beautifully with a quite big plate. The appearance looked convincing at the first but then the taste didn't follow it :(. Although the lettuce was fresh enough but the caesar dressing was too acidic for me. For me, the main points of salad are the veggies and the dressing. This King Caesar was failed to deliver the main points, sadly I have to say. The grilled chicken wasn't well-seasoned, not as tasty as I expected. I had no problem with the crouton, tomato and cheese.

Bailey's Favorite (IDR 30k)
Sausages, Smoked Beef, Egg, Chicken Steak, Fries.
This is their recommended menu I presume. It looked pretty delicious and I couldn't wait to savour it. But they had the salad again on the dish, still acidic like I've mentioned before. The fries (you can pick from fries, mashed potato and baby potato) were another turn off for me because the seasoning wasn't too suitable for the fries. I liked the sunny side up egg, the yolk melted perfectly (YAY-NESS!). The sausage and smoked beef were fine and tasty. I save the best part for the last, it's the chicken steak! The steak was tender and tasty. It was poured with black pepper sauce, the sauce was great! Just perfect and balanced with the chicken steak.

Apple Mojito (IDR 15k)
A basic mojito to enjoy. The jellies made this drink more enjoyable, sparkling!
They also have Lime Mojito.

Pommegranate Yogurt (IDR 15k)
This drink deserved a medal! It was SO good! The pomme juice was fresh and had a lovely color. Then blended with yogurt created a good mix between sweet and tart taste. Added with a cute little decoration on top made it just perfect.

Overall, The Bailey's and Chloe is a good place to hangout. It feels comfortable inside. And of course, it's all without having to cash out big amount of money for the foods and beverages :)
Godspeed!

The Harvest Patissier and Chocolatier

Hi, thank you for visiting my blog and welcome for those who have just joined :D Hope you have a great time here! As my food journey continues, I realized that eating is such a pleasurable activity not just a must daily routine. To find a great balance for your body when consuming food is also what I discovered, keep your body healthy and in shape but also enjoy the wonderful culinary world.
Okay, it's another sweetness that I'm going to share in this post. Yes, it's literally sweet! A few days ago, I visited the newest branch of The Harvest Patissier and Chocolatier in Kebon Jeruk. The store is exactly next to Holycow! Steak House and completes 'the deadly trio of temptation' McDonalds-Holycow!-The Harvest OH MY WHY?! Managed to passed the first and the second but couldn't resist the third one that day LOL.

The Harvest is originally an European-style bakery and pastry shop chain where most of the items are cakes, french pastries, chocolates, ice creams, macarons and many others. But they also serve dine in request with limited space. I decided to dine in there before attending an event in the afternoon. I had taken lunch at home, so to complete it one piece or two cakes would do it. I was captivated by the quality of their products. I believe the pastries and all other products from The Harvest are made by passionate and experienced professionals, displayed and served beautifully, the best quality lies within the taste and create a good standard of pastry. Another point that I like is when you're eating it, you can sense the luxury of it :)
Here are what I got from my visit :

Chocolate Mousse (IDR 28k)
I'm a big fan of chocolate, so this is a must! Coated with premium dark chocolate, sprinkled with white sugar and dressed with chocolate spiral on top. Looks beautiful, isn't it? When talking about mousse, we shall not forget the cream inside. That chocolate cream inside was a masterclass. The cream was very smooth and had a precise level of sweetness. The sponge cake at the base was also great. A very delightful in every bite.

Red Velvet Cake (IDR 33k)
The popular Red Velvet Cake is also a must-try. You can see the luxury in that one slice of Red Velvet Cake. There are plenty of Red Velvet available with each of them has different uniqueness. The Harvest's has a strong red color. The cake was soft in texture and quite strong in taste. The berry taste was unbelievably amazing. Decorated with berries on top makes it a beauty! Good enough to try :)

Chicken Mushroom Puff (IDR 11k)
The Harvest also serves non-sweet menus, here is one of those. A simple puff with chicken and mushroom filling. The puff was great and delicate, perfect right after it was baked. The chicken and mushroom filling was in a fair amount. Of course the filling was delicious and enough for me. And hey, IDR 11k for this delicious puff is a great deal. A good choice for breakfast. Yummy!

Overall, the shop and services were nice, and most importantly it is VERY STRATEGIC! Definitely going back here for quality cakes and pastries.

*cheers*

Honeymoon Dessert Taman Anggrek

So I'll continue my story from my last post. The next day, I went back to Taman Anggrek (again) with the same purpose, to watch The Amazing Spiderman 2 haha! This time I got the ticket to watch this box office movie. While waiting for the show, I got some times to kill. So to do it, I decided to visit Honeymoon Dessert just across the XXI.
Like the name, Honeymoon Dessert is a store that serves dessert as its main. Originally from Hong Kong, Honeymoon Dessert has well spread in Indonesia. With so many choices to enjoy desserts now in Jakarta, Honeymoon Dessert can be your choice to consider.

Desserts come in many types, like cakes, ice cream, fruits and many more. Honeymoon Dessert dominantly has fruits in its menu. The fruits are processed and mixed into many variants here. Pudding, pancake, snowball, iced as you like.

Thai Black Glutinous Rice with Mango in Vanilla Sauce (IDR 32k)
I like mango, so I picked this menu not because of its long name! Also I was also seeking something that could be refreshing and light in taste. The mango here was a bit sour, I was expecting  to be more balanced between sweet and sour. But the sourness didn't ruin this dessert, the black rice and vanilla sauce were pretty amazing. Two big scoops of black glutinous rice were irresistible! The texture was a bit dense but soft while eating it.

Durian Pudding (IDR 31k)
I'm not gonna write about this long, this pudding was simply great! Durian flavored pudding added with real durian flesh! What can you ask more? This is awesomeness! Period!
Another durian dessert that you should try is Durian Pancake which I didn't try this time. Many say it's good!

Watermelon Sago with Tofu Pudding (IDR 23k)
A very cute pinky dessert. With its relatively low price, this could be a good pick for you. The juiciness of watermelon in that big chunks of watermelon sago is totally refreshing. The smooth tofu pudding will only make this dessert delightful. Not too sweet but it's still there. Just an escape you need in this kind of hot day.
